Storrington, West Sussex Beggarsbush 1641
The Inquisition Post Mortem for John Duppa of Petworth, dated 20 Aug 16 Charles (meant for 17 Charles), includes lands in Storrington amongst which are Northcomons alias Beggarsbush and also Catts Mead.
Storrington Parish Registers include a baptism 7th June 1778 for John Hills, from Beggars Bush
William Lillywhite is recorded as being of Beggars Bush in the baptism record of his daughter Anne Lillywhite in 1838. In the same year death is recorded of a Harriott/Harriette Lillywhite age 9 months, her address is given as Beggars Bush, Thakeham. Thakeham is a small village and parish north east of Storrington. It is possible that these references are the same as Storrington, although the present civil parishes do not share a common boundary. There is a Hungerhill just north of Thakeham village.
The 1891 Census for Storrington gives Beggars Bush as unoccupied premises between Perritts and Roundabout.
